I recently stayed at the Emaar Grand Hotel in Mecca, booking a room advertised for five people. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing, and I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, especially larger groups.
The room itself was incredibly tight for five beds. We were practically on top of each other, and there was barely any space to move around or store our belongings comfortably. This lack of space made our stay very uncomfortable and frankly, quite stressful.
Beyond the cramped quarters, the room service was also severely lacking. On multiple occasions, we tried to contact room service, but the phone simply went unanswered. This made it impossible to request basic necessities or address any issues we had.
Considering the high price we paid for this hotel, the level of service and the size of the room were completely unacceptable. It felt like we were significantly overcharged for a very poor experience.
If you are planning a trip to Mecca and require accommodation for more than a couple of people, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. The Emaar Grand Hotel's cramped rooms and unreliable service are not worth the money or the frustration. Save yourself the disappointment and book a different hotel.

The only nice thing about the hotel is its interior. The hotel facilities were rubbish. The shower cubicle wouldn’t close properly and the water would wet the whole floor in the bathroom. The hair dryer in the bathroom has such low power that it will take you an hour to dry your long hair with it. The bathroom plumbing was horrific, whenever you run water you can smell of the gutter. The room ventilation system seems like it hasn’t been cleaned in years and would definitely make you sick!
The place just looks fancy from the interior used but has little to no facilities available. Breakfast was super bland and basic. Didn’t enjoy it at all.

Breakfast was good as we had breakfast included in our booking
I'll consider other options (distance from Haram and room service), before booking it again.

I am currently staying here and as I am writing this review i’m waiting for maintenance to come because my room power keeps stopping. We have only been here for two days tonight being the third and i am just honestly so ready to go home, which is upsetting.
1) the rooms are decent sized, as far as i know. our room was for three people so there were three beds. Very standard. However, the windows are broken and you can hear EVERYTHING outside.
2) the toilet smells and is always 24/7 hot. It’s very tight and cramped. and once again like every other review we were only given two towels despite being three people. Normally hotels i’ve been to you get at least two towels per person the second one being a smaller towel??!
3) THE LIFTS. If you want clarity and a peace of mind please don’t even consider booking here! There are so many lifts but there are WAYY MORE people. You can wait for the lift for almost 1 HOUR
4) Lastly the distance. It’s not worth your money it’s a long walk and isn’t “5 minutes”!
All in all i definitely will not be staying here the only bonus points is the staff excluding reception!

It was quite far from Haram, a good 15mins walk.
Bathroom had mould and coffee area had sugar and dust all over. When we request to clean the room, everything was still there.
Receptionist lady at the Restaurant upstairs on Thursday 23rd February 2023 during dinner time was so rude. She doesn’t have basic manners. I asked nicely if they can heat my kids food, instead of refusing nicely, she pointed me to the door in front of everyone. SO RUDE!

The location is about 7-8 mkns walks from the entrance of haram gate 79 .
The hotel itself looks very presentable but rooms are very dated and need refurbishment. Frontbif house need better Customer service skills especially the lady at reception who when posed with a problem seems to uses gestures and arrogance as her way to deal with issues.
The gentlemen and the service guys are very helpful and pleasant.
Having stayed for a few days with several problems and then room changes this seemed to be common as many other guests had the same issue and same broken promises. For a hotel with ample rooms it seemed like they just couldn't be bothered.
Broken telephones broken lights , lack of facilities and 1 iron to use amongst the hundreds of rooms and you won't get one for 3 days and even then you only can use for 1 hr, constant trips to reception but all broken false promises.
The good things about the place is it is value for money and you could see that once upon a time it was 5 star but now pushing 3 stars. The location is on Ibrahim al khalil St with plenty of food and shopping available nearby.

Alhamdulillah We arrived on the 24th July 2023 from Malaysia. The lady reception is really nice and polite. She makes the check in process really straight foward and fast for me and my father. May Allah ease her life. The breakfast is good. The hotel is around 10-12 minutes to Haram. Room is big and toilet is clean.Aircond is superb. Wifi also very fast. Im grateful to found this hotel even is not like the nearest or higher star to masjid..
Its still a good and clean room. Also theres a lot of shop/food along the way to hotel from masjid. So you wont be feel like walking far. InsyaAllah will come back.

To be honest when I read the reviews of this hotel I had a different image in my head. But my stay proved the reviews wrong. It was a lovely hotel. House keeping were 5 âï¸. Always helpful, gave everything i needed. Cleaned the room when I asked. Like I said housekeeping were just GREAT. The location of the hotel was in the BEST place. Everything in my convenience and the best thing was that it was just a 10min walk to haram shareef. I will give it 5/5

Terrible service and hotel management.
Booked a 4 persons room, it was terrible as the beds were laid out in a very awkward position that left no other space in the hotel room, we barely had enough space to open our suitcases.
The hotel management in general is poor, they don't clean the rooms properly. Everytime we ask for water bottles they either only give 2 or don't give any. We had a minor incident where we needed to check the CCTV footage for our floor, it took 3 days for us to finally get somewhere with this.
Hotel manager is rude and walked off as we were speaking to him. The reception staff again is incompetent and does not seem to care about anything.
The switches are really strange as the sockets are connected to the lights in the room, everytime u want to charge your phone etc u have to keep the light on which is really really strange.
The only thing that was decent was the food. Breakfast and dinner items are always fresh and they change the dishes they make quite often . The tables are cleaned frequently and food gets replenished every time it finishes.

Absolutely awful..!! Worst hotel ever. Starting from reception service to room conditions, everything was way below standard. I can't believe they are rated as 5 star. Totally scammed!! Please don't waste your valuable money. Toilets are so dirty that we had to shift to another room but again no better! Overall, very very poor. Customer service was unacceptable. Also there is no WIFI connection only accessible in ground floor but no access in rooms, the food is quite acceptable Will never recommend this....

Room was not carpeted, sockets were not working or the socket was linked with the table lamp so you don't have option to keep your mobile on charge while you want to keep the table lamp off. Bathroom was not in good condition as most of the time water wasn't flowing out and was gathering in the Bathroom.

It's a 10-minute straight walk to harm. No uphill or downhill. So was comfortable for kids to walk.
They have a separate floor for a restaurant which we didn't use. Floor for Parking and a floor for Prayer hall.

This is a very good hotel compared to the other hotels in the vicinity. It’s located in Ibrahim Al Khalil street, about 1 Km walk from the Haram (about 15-20 minutes walk depending on your speed). I have booked a quad room. It was spacious, clean and doesn’t smell. It had street view, from the 8th floor, beds and linen were clean, bathroom was well maintained and clean. The room is spacious enough for the needs, there is a kettle and facility to make coffee, and there is a small fridge.
Electronic card keys work fine with no issues. There is a small wardrobe / hanger for clothes. The single beds and mattresses are comfortable. I would give this room / hotel an overall rating of 8/10. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. Check in was almost seamless with no issues.
It did take few minutes longer to check in more than necessary, but compared to other hotels in the region and previous experiences, it was really good.

There is two hotel towers we were in tower A so I don't know about tower B. From the outside, lobby restaurant tower A was 4 star but the room was a little 3 star - no carpet and the bathroom was not as modern for 4 star rating. Also there was no WiFi connection in the room even though we were 4 floors up - only in the lobby could you get a better connection. Breakfast buffet was good.

The location is good. But It’s a shabby hotel, more towards a 2 star hotel. Toilets are tiny and not very clean. Walls are not sound proof so it’s extremely hard to sleep, more like sleeping on the road, it can get EXTREMELY noisy from the cleaners/staff side throughout the night, plus customers ofcourse. Better to opt for another hotel in the area.

Great service upon booking in but that’s where it ends. The room and bathroom were never cleaned for the entire stay. The bathroom is the pits and the shower is hand held. We asked for coffee upon arrival but they never replenished again. Always having to ask for toilet rolls. The geyser is a switch in the bathroom that we put off accidentally. Needless to say we had cold water for two days until they showed us the problem. No cupboard space so you have to live out of a suitcase. You have to make up your own bed. There is no space in the room so salaah has to be made in the passage by some.

Let’s start with the positives: the hotel is conveniently located, just a 7 to 10-minute walk from the mosque, which is excellent. There are plenty of shops nearby, and the on-site café is a great addition. Additionally, the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which enhances the overall experience.
However, the main drawback for me was the consistent lack of toilet tissue and towels. Despite repeated requests, these essentials were never provided, which seems to be a recurring issue at this hotel. If management could address this, it would significantly improve the experience and elevate the hotel to a five-star standard, especially given its affordability.

When you come to lobby it looks like 4 star but when you go to your floor and rooms it is not even 1 star. The WiFi password is written in very big text but WiFi does not work at all. There are lices in the bed. The beds are really hairy. No cleanliness. Lipstick on the curtain. Curry gravy on the bed. Very smelly rooms. Would never recommend even if free. If you like living in the vomiting area then visit.

All was rubbish that included rooms, as well as service .the rooms are dirty ,there is hair on the beds, and all the toilets are broken and in gross quality. We had already reserved the rooms, but they made us wait for 2 hours in the lobby and then they gave us rooms on different floors, after all this the rooms were not cleaned before giving them to us. When we asked to have the sheets changed, no action was taken.

Excellent Umrah Experience with Al Makkawi – Highly Recommended
Alhamdulillah, my family and I had a smooth and spiritually uplifting Umrah experience with Al Makkawi this month. From start to finish, everything was well-organized, and we were in safe hands under the guidance of Brother Arif. His calm and knowledgeable approach made a significant difference, as he provided invaluable insights into Makkah and Madinah, enriching our pilgrimage.
Like any journey, there were some logistical challenges, particularly with hotel locations due to ongoing construction around the Haram. However, Brother Arif handled these issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to our experience. One key takeaway from this trip is the importance of flexibility—there will always be some hurdles, but ultimately, we must trust that Allah swt has invited us to His house and will ensure a successful pilgrimage, inshaAllah.
We often hear unpleasant stories about unreliable tour operators, but I am pleased to say that our experience with Al Makklawi was nothing like that. Everything was well-planned, including our ziyarats, which were pre-booked with comfortable transport. The group size was also very manageable, allowing for a more personal and stress-free journey.
While we did arrange our own visit to Jabal Al Noor and Cave Hira, our group had already been taken to see it from a distance the day before. This level of organization and thoughtfulness made the entire trip seamless and fulfilling.
I highly recommend Al Makkawi for anyone considering Umrah. May Allah accept our pilgrimage and grant others the opportunity to visit His sacred houses of Makkah and Madinah.

His talks which he makes very interesting, he is very knowledgeable and speaks local language fluently. Brother Arif kept in contact with us through out our stay in Makkah via step by step guidance. My husband and I went to perform our Hajj with Al-makkawi Travels. We had the best experience of our lives. Brother Arif was wonderful and very accommodating, he made sure all the pilgrims were well looked after and informed us all of the activities that were to take place during our Hajj. Furthermore, we had Brother Hadi who was a knowledgeable scholar informing us of what to pray and when to pray which was very helpful and beneficial. Finally, you won’t regret booking your travels with Al-makkawi, they are professional, reliable and trustworthy. They have a lot of experience and I hope I will be going with them again soon inshaAllah!

For us at Al-Makkawi Travel, the tradition of serving the pilgrims to the House of God in Makkah al Mukarramah was established by Al Haaj Abdullah Saleh and his family some 5 decades ago. This tradition remains alive in the family even today Alhamdulillah. So, you can be assured that serving the pilgrims is in our blood and comes as second nature.
