Ramadan Umrah 2027 – Early Booking Guide for UK Pilgrims

Planning a Ramadan Umrah from the UK in 2027

Performing Umrah during Ramadan is one of the most spiritually rewarding experiences a Muslim can have. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that Umrah in Ramadan is equal in reward to Hajj (Bukhari and Muslim). For UK pilgrims, this means demand is extremely high — and the window to book at a reasonable price is narrow.

When is Ramadan 2027?

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on or around 17 January 2027 (subject to moon sighting). This falls during the UK school term, which means slightly lower demand from families compared to years when Ramadan overlaps with school holidays. However, it remains the most popular time for Umrah worldwide.

Why book early?

Ramadan Umrah packages sell out months in advance. Agents secure hotel allotments and flight blocks 6 to 9 months ahead, and the cheapest allocations are released first. If you wait until November or December to book, you will pay significantly more — and the best hotels near the Haram will already be fully allocated.

Our recommendation: book by September 2026 for the best prices and hotel choice. Compare Ramadan packages on HalalTrek as soon as agents release them.

What to expect in Makkah during Ramadan

  • Crowds — Masjid al-Haram reaches peak capacity, especially during the last ten nights. Tawaf and Sa’i take longer than usual.
  • Iftar at the Haram — breaking your fast inside the mosque is an unforgettable experience. Arrive at least 2 hours before Maghrib to secure a spot.
  • Tarawih prayers — led by the Imams of the Haram, these are the highlight of many pilgrims’ trips. The mosque atmosphere during the last ten nights is extraordinary.
  • Laylat al-Qadr — many pilgrims aim to be in Makkah during the last ten nights to worship on the Night of Power.

How much does a Ramadan Umrah cost?

Expect to pay 30 to 50 per cent more than off-peak prices. A budget Ramadan package starts from around £1,200 per person (quad sharing), while 5-star packages near the Haram can reach £4,000+. The premium is driven by hotel demand — the same room that costs £60 per night in June can cost £200+ per night during Ramadan. For a full breakdown, read our Umrah cost guide.

Tips for a smoother Ramadan Umrah

  1. Book a hotel within 500m of the Haram — you will be walking back and forth multiple times daily in Ramadan, often while fasting
  2. Pack light, comfortable footwear — see our Umrah packing list
  3. Stay hydrated after Iftar — temperatures in January are mild (15-25°C) but the walking is intense
  4. Consider the first two weeks — they are cheaper and less crowded than the last ten nights
